Leave Tel Aviv to Cesarea the city of Herod’s, where you will visit the ruins of the Roman Theatre and the Crusaders City. Proceed to Haifa and enjoy the panoramic view from Mount Carmel. Visit Megiddo (Armageddon) where the last great battle on earth will take place, preserved by the National Parks Authority. Continue to Nazareth and Visit the Basilica of Annunciation and the Well of the Virgin Mary. And on to Tiberias via Cana, Tiberias being the only town on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Drive by the Sea of Galilee. Stopping at sites that reflect the life and teachings of Jesus – a number of places are of historical relevance to Christians in search of their roots. The Mount of Beatitudes* – where the ceremony of the mount took place. Caphernahum – where Jesus started his preaching, also sighting the old Synagogue and the House of St. Peter. And Tabgha the site of the miracle of the Fish and Loaves. We continue, and visit Tel Hatzor dating back to the Temple period and located on the ancient road to Damascus, we will visit the museum to view artifacts un-earthed from archeological digs. Tel Dan was created when Israel was divided after Joshua’s conquest, it is now a densely forested nature reserve nourished by several small springs. Finally we visit Banias, one of the Jordan River’s sources, where Phillip, son of Herods, established the capital city for his kingdom on the Upper Galilee. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Tiberias.
Drive to Beit Shean to see the Roman Theatre, then onto the Jordan Valley stopping in Jericho, the oldest city in the world. Drive to Ein Gedi to visit the nature reserve on the shores of the Dead Sea. Then we will ascend by cable car to the top of the Massada Fortress – the last resistance place against the Romans and learn its heroic story. Back to Ein Gedi for dinner and overnight stay.
From the Dead Sea we will continue our way to the Ella Valley through Tel Arad, Israel’s best example of an Early Bronze Age city. Ella Valley, the place believed to be where David and Goliath fought. We continue to Beit Guvrin to view the 4000 caves and hollows eroded by the result of water on a soft limestone surface and learn the story of the Jewish revolt against the Romans. Neot Kedumim a place where the land is cultivated as the same way as in biblical times, every season the landscape changes providing visitors the chance to view the history of the land Dinner and overnight stay in Jerusalem.
We enter via the Dung Gate to visit the Wailing Wall and the Temple Mount. Proceed to Mount Zion to visit the Cenacle – the Last Supper Room, King David’s Tomb and The Dormition Abbey. Drive to the Mount of Olives, where you can enjoy the spectacular view over the Holy City. From there we descend to Josaphat Valley – visit the Pater Noster Church and the Church of Ascension, the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. After lunch, we will enter the Old City to walk the ‘Via of the Cross’ (Via Dolorosa) to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. We drive via the western new city of Jerusalem, observe the Hebrew University and the Parliament House, The Supreme Court, Israel Museum – ‘Shine of the Book’ where the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
